Who is Prof. Dr. Barış Önol?
Our guest in this episode of Buluttan Sohbetler is Prof. Dr. Barış Önol, an academician and researcher at the Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Istanbul Technical University, in the Department of Meteorological Engineering. He completed his doctorate in 2007, focusing on “Downscaling climate change scenarios using a regional climate model over the Eastern Mediterranean.”
His research areas include Technical Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, and Meteorological Engineering. He specializes particularly in Atmosphere-Ocean Interaction, Climate, Climate Change and Modeling, and Analysis of Meteorological Disasters such as floods, storms, avalanches, and droughts.
Continuing his academic career at Istanbul Technical University, he holds the title of Professor since 2023. Additionally, from 2013 to 2023, he served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Meteorological Engineering at the same university.
